The Story of India : In this landmark six-part series for PBS and the BBC, Michael Wood embarked on a dazzling and exciting journey through today's India. Watch here. A stereophonic journey through India : Jean-Louis Derche traveled to India in the summer of 1971 and faithfully recorded temple music in several out-of-the-way locations. Even more remarkable are his unusual recordings made in the streets of Benares, Chidambaran, Madurai, Tanjour, and Trivandrum. Listen to the sounds of rickshas, a walk down a narrow street, craftsmen hammering metal, and the timeless flow of the Ganges River.
Swades : A well done Indian film. Conveys the experience of an outsider visiting, living and blending into rural Indian village life. This is the closest a movie I have seen to describe the type of experience I had as well.
Sita Sings the Blues : An animated version of the epic Indian tale of Ramayana set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw.
In Search Of Bene Israel : The story of the filmmaker’s journey to reconnect with her maternal grandmother’s Bene Israel community of Western India, In Search of the Bene Israel follows a group of 3500 Jews in and around Bombay which believes that it was shipwrecked in India 2000 years ago and is in the process of a community-wide migration to Israel.
Kamat's Potpourri - An amazing family run website that lets you have in depth look at everydays rural India and it's tribals. Documented by personal stories and photos along the 20th century. I enjoyed hours reading and browsing through it.
My India - Jim Cobbert : Jim Corbett's classic stories of man-eaters have made him a legend in India. This colorfully-written collection contains classic tales about the human beings who lived in the poignant rural world of the Indian foothills. Corbett, here, displays great sympathy and concern for these people through his sharp observations of their village life, traditions, and culture.

Offbeat places : A site of all the districts in India. This can be a wonderful starting point. The mention of all these places often evade most of the tourism guidebooks. The site is a virtual goldmine of tourism, if somebody wants to just explore any entirely unknown place. ( recomended by pranavganesh )
Indiamike : This site was started in 2001 as a personal homepage by a gentleman named Mike, who had a passion for traveling to India. Mike thought... "Why not start my own forum as a place where people came to share their experiences about travel in India?" And that is how it all began. One thought... one member... one post.

Patent filings , Road Crashes and Olympics medals : Some interesting facts I had witnessed while in India and that, for my humble opinion, represent the formula for the Indian Shanti: Less of a rush for competitive or innovative achievements more in ease with the present as it is.
Frances - My mentor and inspiration for putting together My India program. And most of all a dear old friend.
